First, GTA V was announced for next-gen consoles and PC and the crowd went wild. Then it was rumoured to have been delayed, or maybe even cancelled, and the crowd went wild again, but in a different way. Rockstar however was quick to deny those rumours and ensured us that there was no such thing.
Fast forward to today and Rockstar have finally announced the official release date for both PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. The two consoles will get the new game first, as expected, with a release date set for November 18th 2014. PC users will have to wait until next year, as that version won’t be available until January 27th 2015.
Along with the release date, Rockstar also announced a row of new features:
The new version includes a range of improvements. Among them are an additional 100 new songs and dj remixes across the 17 radio stations. The GTA online mode also gets support for more players, with the next-gen consoles allowing up to 30 players while the PC version hasn’t gotten an official number as of yet. We can only hope that it will be even more, and if lucky, it may be all the way up to 64 players at once.
Pre-order customers will get a bonus of $1 million in-game currency, distributed as $500k for the solo-campaign and $500k for GTA online.
Additional bonuses are added for those who already played the game on the PS3 or Xbox 360. They’ll get exclusive content including rare versions of classic vehicles to collect from across the Grand Theft Auto series, such as the Dukes, the Dodo Seaplane and a faster, more manoeuvrable Blimp; activities including wildlife photography and new shooting range challenges, new weapons and more. Players who wish to claim this bonus should have completed the Prologue prior while being connected to the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live.
Rockstar also released a whole list of new screenshots and promised a new trailer for the game later today.
