Back in September 2022 Rockstar Games were hacked giving us lots of interesting leaked footage from GTA VI. Alongside this leak, the source code was also shared for GTA V, however only with a small group of modders. Today as a strange Christmas gift, the source code has been leaked publically giving us all the juicy information about GTA V.
This leak isn’t quite as interesting as the videos and images for GTA VI, but it has revealed a host of information about some canned single player DLC including a liberty city expansion. Single Player DLC isn’t entirely new and we were aware that plans existed, however not the scope of these plans. A tweet from morsmutual shares the plans for a total of 8 DLCs titled Manhunt, Norman, Relationship, Enterprise, Prologue, Assassination, Agent Trevor and Liberty City. All of these DLCs were or course canned in favour of GTA Online which was a big shame.
What exactly will come from this i can’t say, but I do hope that Rockstar will improve their cyber security in the future. This includes both their internal systems as well as GTA Online which hackers, or more accurately mod menu users, roam very freely.
Quite the Christmas Gift for those who know what to do with this information.
