GTA VI Trailer Released Early, PC Gamers Given the Boot, Again…

It’s been a wild week for Rockstar Games, first with the leak of some of GTA VI on Tik-Tok after one of the developer’s kids’ friends decided to try to gain some internet popularity and likely is now banned from playing at their house ever again. Then last night, a low-quality version of the reveal trailer was leaked, so Rockstar Games decided to skip their planned release window later today and go live. If the cats already out of the bag, it may as well be in 4K!
First thing first, the game looks pretty amazing, still with the familiar art style of Grand Theft Auto we’ve come to expect, but there’s certainly a huge uptick in fidelity here. Sure, GTA V has had some hefty graphics updates over the years, but it’s still over a decade old at this point, so the new one is certainly long overdue!
GTA VI Trailer Released Early
Overdue is the right word too, as the release date is now pegged for 2025, which is honestly even later than I expected. Yet even that is far enough off that further delays aren’t out of the question, as we’re over a year away, and who knows what can happen in that time.
But PC gamers are being given the middle finger yet again, as the official word from Rockstar says the game is coming to PlayStation and Xbox, but no word on PC. Given that Rockstars’ previous efforts came out as console exclusives, with the PC release being over a year later in some cases, it seems PC gamers are going to be left in the cold on this one.
“Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X/S games and entertainment systems in 2025.”
Now, I’m sure the game will sell great on console, but Rockstar has seen the numbers. Many gamers will buy the game on consoles, then when the beefed-up PC version releases, let’s guess at 6 to 12 months after that, many gamers will buy the game… again! I actually waited for the PC version of GTA V, and it was a long and painful wait too, but can I suffer the wait again for GTA VI? I’m not sure. I’m in my 30s still, barely, and the realisation that I’ll likely be 41 by the time I play the sixth entry in the series is a bit of a kick in the mid-life crisis, to be honest… I may have to cave on this one.
What about you, do you think you’ll play it on console first, or stick to your guns and wait for the eventual PC release? Let us know in the comments.
