The GTX 1060 Could Feature a 192-Bit Memory Bus

Even though the GTX 1060 hasn’t been officially confirmed, a recent slide from Inno3D suggests it’s part of NVIDIA’s Pascal family and designed to slot in between the GTX 970 and GTX 980. This could make it a competitor to AMD’s unbelievably affordable RX 480 which starts at a mere $199. Of course, NVIDIA needs to ensure the GPU has enough video memory and progresses from 4GB on the GTX 970 and pricier GTX 960 editions. Information acquired by VideoCardz indicates this particular graphics card will come with 6GB of VRAM on a 192-bit bus. More specifically, the first listing is codenamed:

E2914-A01 SKU0020 GP106 BRING-UP 6GB GDD FUNCTIONAL TEST PCA BOARDS, 699-12914-0020-100

As you can see, this lists the E2914 engineering sample with a GP106 code and 6GB of video memory. Another listing appears to show the 192-bit bus:

PG410-A01 SKU0030 GP106 192B 128MX32 DP+ COMPUTER GRAPHICS CARDS, 699-1G410-0030-100

Please note, the PG410 board sports 4GB of VRAM, but mentions the 192-bit bus. In theory, this means there could be two models, a slightly cheaper 4GB version and 6GB edition for those wanting the extra video memory. Of course, this is pure speculation at the moment, but the details suggest that the GTX 1060 could use a 192-bit 6GB interface.

Are you looking forward to the GTX 1060 or more interested in AMD’s RX 480?
