Another update on the Nvidia GTX 680 story which comes in fresh from Germany in the aftermath of the days CeBit events. Apparently, Nvidia’s GTX 680 which Nvidia were so confident would absolutely blow away the HD 7970 has now emerged to be only 10% faster (in terms of FPS performance) in Battlefield 3 and slower (the points margin was not specified) than the HD 7970 in the Futuremark 3DMark 11 graphics benchmark. Nvidia is clearly worried about this as the initial plan to launch in mid 2012 has gradually been demolished in favour of launching as soon as possible in order to avoid letting AMD get a foothold in the 28nm graphics card market. The card is going to arrive this month, sooner rather than later we expect.
