GTX 680 will be hard to get

Many industry sources are saying that Kepler based GTX 680 desktop cards will be hard to get upon it’s release.

Despite it’s high prices, the cards performance over the similarly priced AMD cards, the GTX 600 series will be very attractive to people who want the extra power, of course it’s said AMD could put a spanner in the works by dropping their prices to tempt people over to an AMD card, but there will always be people who are brand loyal or will pay a premium for extra performance, even if it’s only marginally better.

If you are after GTX 680, the best advice is to look for one on launch day, which is still set for for March 23 and immediately buy one. Otherwise you will probably end up waiting.  The 28nm process is not at great yield levels but it is still reportedly better than the transition to 40nm a few years ago. Nvidia is also having to use a lot of capacity to service OEM deals in both notebook and desktop segment.  That will swallow many of the 28nm Kepler based cards.
