Bronies Rejoice! For friendship is indeed magical as H1Z1 King of the Hill releases a new update which includes the “Ponyvale Equestrian Estates”. An area which is seemingly tipping it’s cap to all fans of horses and ponies. Being one of a number of areas in the new map, the update also includes a new skirmish mode and an overhaul of the games killer gas. H1Z1 King of the Hill, for those unaware, is a first person shooter in which (generally speaking) 100 people are placed on 1 map with the sole idea of last man standing. It’s basically Battle Royale.
A Brony is a term for adult fans of My Little Pony. I am not a brony and have yet to determinate if the tag is derogatory or not, with most people seemingly embracing it as a ironic troll meme. To not offend those who do genuinely identify as a Brony, I will end the description by stating that some fans simply find the artistic style and colour pallete appealing. We do not judge here.
So, lets talk about the update!
The new skirmish mode is called ‘Pleasant Valley Nightmare’. The map in question is set amid an area surrounded by the toxic gas. The gas is slowly closing in removing playable area and if that isn’t enough, it’s all occurs at night. It should be noted that the H1z1 map does have other areas than the Pony themed ranch. I just think the pony themed area is the most amusing.
The game also includes some balacing of weapons and gameplay. This means that those who used or complained about the OP weapons, might suddenly have something new to moan about.
The full patch notes can be read here.
Despite the popularity of the franchise, I must confess, I am not a massive fan of H1z1 King of the Hill. I think it was rushed mod in an effort to detract from the bugs in the original H1z1. That being said, you gotta love it when a developer decides to do something a bit crazy. You have to admit, appealing to the Brony community certainly falls within that bracket. I image this update might have a few Bronies ‘clopping’ and if you don’t know what that it, Google it at your own risk.
