Half-Life 3 is most likely not coming out, but that does not necessarily mean you can’t play a “new” Half-Life game. Modders are always hard at work, and some are more ambitious than others. One of these is the much awaited MMod V3 for Half-Life 2. The project began all the way back in 2014, but since these are not the modders’ full time job, it had to take a backseat to real life duties. The wait appears to be worth it as Gunship Mark II is announcing that it will arrive “sometime in 2018”. Granted that is not an exact date, but it is more tangible than Half-Life 3.
To inspire confidence that it is indeed coming soon, a new trailer is available showing what this ambitious mod brings. Just like it says on their ModDB page, HL2MMod Is not only fancy shaders and effects, there’s a lot of stuff going under the hood. Some of them are not even shown in the trailer yet. However, Gunship Mark II promises more details are coming soon. These features include smarter combine soldiers, new weapons which NPCs can use, more immersive cameras and more.
