Halo Infinite to Receive Third-Person Mode in November

Halo Infinite will officially receive a third-person mode this November. This will be the first time a third-person perspective has been available in the Halo franchise. The announcement was made by developer 343 Industries at the 2024 Halo World Championship, with further details shared through a post on X/Twitter. A brief video was also included, showcasing work-in-progress gameplay of the new mode in action.

A New Way to Experience Halo

According to 343 Industries, the third-person mode will first be available in Firefight, a popular co-op mode, but it might extend to player vs. player (PvP) modes in the future. Senior community manager John “Unyshek” Junyszek commented, “It’s a fun way to play, you have more awareness. You get to see your Spartan. It’s super cool.” The team has been enjoying it internally, and fans are eager to try it.

Skybox Labs senior engineer Colin Cove added that Forge mode will also support third-person, allowing creators to switch between first- and third-person viewpoints for specific players or everyone in custom games. This flexibility in Forge will give players and creators new possibilities for gameplay.

343 Industries has not yet specified if the third-person mode will be available for the campaign or restricted to multiplayer. With Halo Infinite continuously receiving updates since its 2021 release, this addition offers a fresh perspective for longtime fans.
