AMD is planning the launch of the HD 7000 Mobile series of graphics parts for this December according to sources. The codename “London” series is set for release in a wide variety of options as seen below in the table:
The range starts from the lowest performance part which is the HD 7430M and then gradually progresses all the way up to the “fastest” HD 7900M which could pack up to 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM. With APUs and integrated graphics taking hold quite rapidly it seems there is not much place for the lower end graphics parts anymore and accordingly the low end HD 74XX parts will be rebrands from the old 40nm HD 6000 series mobile SKUs. Everything apart from the Seymour parts will be based off the new 28nm architecture. But Nvidia is also expected to have its Geforce 600M series available within a similar time frame too so we can expect to see a wide range of new gaming laptops available next year in Q1. CES 2012 looks like it will be an interesting one where surely AMD and Nvidia will both show off the new mobile 28nm technologies.
