Information has been ‘leaking’ in relatively large and frequent chunks recently and the latest information to reach us is that of the vastly improved tesselation on the HD 7970. According to sources in Germany it is up to 300% faster than AMD’s previous fastest single GPU card the HD 6970. In theoretical tessellation benchmarks such as Unigine Heaven the HD 7970 outperforms the HD 6970 by about 145% and in games outperforms the HD 6970 by:
AMD’s figures go on to claim that as tessellation levels increase the HD 7970 further gains a lead over the HD 6970 with the peak of 300% difference in performance being achieved at tessellation factor levels of 13 and higher.
