These are a bit of an outside choice for me, as I actually use these more as a work headset than I ever have a gaming headset at my PC. That being said, there’s always a place in my work and social life for over-ear big headphones and a set of true wireless in-ears. Between my mobile phone (DoNt YoU AlL hAvE pHoNes!?!), tablet, the Nintendo Switch, and my recent audiobook addiction, big over-ear gaming headphones don’t always suit my needs. That’s where the Edifier TWS NB2 Pro can really shine.
The obvious advantages of the TWS NB2 Pro are that they’re Bluetooth. That means hooking them up to anything from your PC/Laptop, phone, Nintendo Switch, and really anything Bluetooth is a breeze. I’ve actually used them with my Nvidia Shield TV a few times to watch a movie or two! However, while they work great in the home, using them while I’m out walking and listening to audiobooks and making my work-related phone calls has been a blessing.
They’re equipped with hybrid active noise-cancelling technology, and it does a great job of reducing unwanted wind noise, background traffic rumbles etc. However, you can still hear a little of your environment too, so the biker ringing his bell behind you, no problem, but the stuff you don’t want to hear is kept out well enough. There’s an ambient mode too, allowing you to hear more of your environment, which I find is great for spatial awareness while I’m out jogging on busier paths and near roads.
I’ve been playing more xCloud (the Xbox Games Pass streaming service) on my phone recently too, so the gaming experience has been well tested. The panoramic surround sound effect works surprisingly well on these headphones. Albeit so does the Dolby Atmos processing built into my phone, so it’s really down to you which you prefer. However, it’s always nice to have options. What does impress, however, is the sound quality. For in-ear headphones, they pack a solid low-end punch and lots of detail, giving them a good cinematic sound that works well for everything from movies to music. The 10mm drivers are just awesome, it’s as simple as that.
The built-in microphones are great too, using their dual microphones and latest ENC algorithm, not only does the call sound great on your end but there’s less interference and background noise for the person you’re calling too.
The included dock looks great and can provide an impressive 2 hours usage time with just a 15-minute charge, so you’re never out of action for long. That being said, the total usage time until you’re completely out of power is around 30 hours, so you really only need to charge them once a week. The gaming mode cuts their latency down to 80ms, making everything feel a little more responsive, which I love. Plus, they’re very comfortable and stylish, so wearing them for gaming or in the office for calls, they look and feel appropriate just about anywhere.
The Edifier NB2 Pro are available now for just £58.64.
“For Hybrid Noise Cancellation, the internal and external 2-way MICs precisely capture and reverse the noise, keeping away any disturbance from the outside. Breaking through the acoustic structure and innovatively applying panoramic 3D technology, the TWS NB2 Pro delivers a better immersive experience, offering a mobile and private cinema to you. In the Noise Cancellation mode, the ambient sound can be heard by simply tapping the earbud; the volume and range of the ambient sound can be adjusted by App. You will not miss any important information outside.” – Edifier
