Despite all the damage Sony did to Helldivers 2, the game has still been able to stay afloat due to its amazing management by its CEO and game masters. It really shows people what a live service game should be, not the trash companies like EA and Ubisoft would like you to believe.
In Helldivers 2, a game master controls the game’s narrative, deciding the Helldiver army’s next moves. The current game master, Joel, has consistently challenged players with unexpected twists and turns, adding to the game’s challenge and fun.
Recently, Arrowhead Games announced they are looking for another game master, a good sign of the game’s direction. According to the job listing, the game master will “attempt to run an engaging and evolving campaign by reacting, anticipating, and challenging the players on a community-wide scale.”
There were fears that the current game master would be leaving, but community manager Thomas “Twinbeard” Petersson has alleviated those fears on Discord. Helldivers 2 has managed to create a relationship with the community, unlike any other game company, once again showing other companies how it’s done.
I am glad to see that Helldivers 2 remains relevant and I do hope that the issue regarding the ban on countries outside the PlayStation Network is repealed.
