Hello Games Tweets “No Man’s Sky was a Mistake”

Earlier this afternoon (28th October), the official Twitter account of developer Hello Games, creator of the ambitious but much-maligned No Man’s Sky, branded the game “a mistake.” The tweet – which read, “No Man’s Sky was a mistake” – was quickly deleted (but not before it was screencapped) and the Hello Games Twitter account was then set to private.
Did Sean Murray, lead programmer at Hello Games, tweet the surprising comment, or was the account hacked? There seems to be some confusion about it. While Murray has tweeted from his personal account that the Hello Games Twitter account has been hacked, Polygon received a message from Murray’s Hello Games e-mail account in which he admitted to posting the tweet and blaming a member of his team for deleting it.
“The tweet is from me, but somebody from the team took it down,” the email to Polygon from Murray’s account reads. “We have not been coping well.”
Later, Murray posted the following tweets:
Server hacked. We're binging Mr Robot Episodes as quickly as we can looking for answers. Ep05 is a cracker

If anything was a mistake, it was using Linked In without 2FA.

Nice to see *someone* use that account at least. Please sort all my pending invites while you're there hackers

.@hellogames are you still hacked and stuff?

Murray has been silent on Twitter for months, presumably due to the vitriol aimed at him and Hello Games following the negative reception to No Man’s Sky. So, was the e-mail received by Polygon also from the purported hacker? Are Murray’s tweets part of an elaborate damage control campaign?
