Here’s Why Monster Hunter World Was Delayed on the PC

Monster Hunter World is still coming to the PC.

The upcoming action role-playing video game Monster Hunter World is one of Capcom’s major titles for 2018. The game represents the fifth title in the Monster Hunter franchise, and it will come out first on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Ideally, the PC variant was supposed to come out at the same time. Still, Capcom has decided to delay it until Fall 2018. Fortunately, the developers did not leave the PC community in the dark. Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto explained exactly why the delay was necessary. Apparently, the team wants to make sure that everything will work properly upon release. Not a bad reason at all, if you ask me.

“For the main Monster Hunter game, this is our first PC title and it’s something we want to make sure we get right. So rather than have it taking up resources during the console development and not it not being able to have our full attention on it. We want to get console out the door and then we’re going to take some extra time and try and get the PC version as good as possible.”

PC optimization.

Since PCs rely on hardware from many different manufacturers, optimizing a game for this platform can be challenging. Capcom wants PC gamers to enjoy Monster Hunter World at its best, and they believe that waiting some extra months will be worth it.

“There’s extra work you need for PC as well. On console you use first party matchmaking, you just kind of plug into it, whether it’s PSN or Xbox Live, but on PC we’re going to have to work more to get our own matchmaking working. So, hopefully, PC users won’t mind waiting a little bit longer for us to bring you a really great optimised PC experience.”

This isn’t the first game to suffer a late PC release, and it surely won’t be the last. Those of you who were eager to enjoy this title later this month will undoubtedly be disappointed. Still, apart from playing it on a console, there’s not much to do now but wait.
