Higher Frame Rates Matter – How You Can Game Above 60Hz

But That’s Not All
The experience of extremely smooth gameplay is wonderful. It brings a realness to the gaming worlds that’s worthy of the investment for many. Sure, you’ll have your naysayers with their “but the human eye can’t see above 24fps” and they’re lunatics for thinking that. That’s not how the human eye works, we don’t see in FPS. Technically the real world has an infinite refresh rate.
However, I must admit that once you get passed 140Hz/FPS it does become harder to differentiate a benefit, but it’s hardly a burden either. If your game has faster action, such as DOTA II or LoL, the higher refresh is a benefit. If you’re playing Mass Effect, you’re unlike to see much difference after a 100 Hz.
Got What You Need?
There are a few ways you can game at higher refresh rates. Of course, the easiest way is to throw money at the problem. High Refresh Rate monitors are not cheap, but we do expect them to come down in price. A good one can cost you around £500+ and you can easily spend up to £1000 for some of the flagship higher resolution panels on the market. G-Sync and FreeSync are great in their own way too. However having a higher refresh rate wins hands down than having synchronised low refresh rates. Of course, if you can get a monitor with both, you get the best of both worlds. A high-end monitor needs a high-end GPU and CPU. To get the benefits of blazing fast refresh rates, you’ll need the hardware to do it.
Ready?
You know some monitors, you know the cost, and you now know the kind of games you can enjoy at extreme refresh rates. Are you ready to explore the world above 60 Hz?
