Did you plough through the Fast & Furious franchise disappointed, like there was something missing? I think we all felt it. I remember reading countless reviews of the series’ instalments – particularly Tokyo Drift – which bemoaned the curious absence of the Third Reich; a common criticism. Despite the praise, despite the record box office takings, the general consensus of the Fast & Furious films seems to be that, no matter how enjoyable: “needs more Hitler.”
Thankfully, Jordan VanDina was listening.
VanDina, who runs the Weekend Scripts website – he writes a parody script over one weekend, so it’s not just a clever name – has launched an IndieGoGo campaign for his Fast & Furious sequel Fast Nein: The Fast & The Führer, in which Vin Diesel and The Rock use Back to the Future’s Delorean time machine to travel to Germany, 1941, to race Adolph Hitler. The movie, which features cameos from The Expendables, Donald Trump, The Terminator, and Doc Brown, is seeking $100,000,000 on IndieGoGo, of which it has already raised a whopping $335, with two months still to run.
VanDina has posted every page of his 70-page script to IndieGoGo – which is also available for download here – which seems short for a feature film, since one page of script generally equates to one minute of screen time. Hopefully, that $100m will pay for some sweet CGI scenes of Hitler throwing his Volkswagen Beetle around the Nürburgring’s famous hairpin corners to bulk out the screen time.
