Horizon Zero Dawn, for many, represents one of the greatest games ever made. And following its PC release in late 2020, this did nothing to diminish that opinion with, if anything, love for the title being greater than ever before. – With the continued success seen in its sequel (Horizon Forbidden West), however, this did raise questions about what we might see next from the franchise.
Well, following a report via Eurogamer, multiple sources apparently seem to know the answer. Namely, Horizon Zero Dawn is apparently set to get a PS5 remaster and possibly even a remake!
The news isn’t, of course, overly shocking news as this would simply represent the latest PS4 “classic” to be upgraded to its next-gen console (we recently saw ‘The Last of Us’ get a similar level of treatment). What is interesting though is that it’s currently unclear as to whether this is simply going to be a remaster (with upgraded graphics, resolutions, etc.) or whether Sony is planning to completely overhaul it from the ground up to truly get the best experience possible out of the PS5’s hardware. In other words, a remake.
While a remake is clearly a lot more interesting proposition, the only downside is that this would likely take significantly longer to complete while a remaster, comparatively speaking, could be set for release (in theory) before the end of this year. This is unless, of course, the PC release can be reworked back into a PS5 version which isn’t an unreasonable proposition.
Given that Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the relatively few titles my wife pumped a huge amount of time into though, I’m pretty sure Sony can already mark her down for a guaranteed sale!
What do you think though? Would you like to give Horizon Zero Dawn another bash, but this time on the PS5? – Let us know in the comments!
