Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on Steam Draws Fewer Players than the Original

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered launched on October 31, but despite the anticipation, player numbers on Steam reveal a different story. According to data from SteamDB, the remastered edition has drawn surprisingly low concurrent player numbers, even lower than those of the original version.

At launch, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered reached a peak of just 2,538 concurrent players. In the following days, these numbers only declined, with the highest count in the last 24 hours standing at 2,350 players, a drop of a few hundred from launch day.

The Original Game Still Has the Most Active Users on Steam

In contrast, the original Horizon Zero Dawn recorded a peak of 2,588 players in the last 24 hours and has generally maintained similar or even higher numbers over recent weeks. Though the remaster was not intended to be a mass-market hit, it’s surprising to see it performing on par or even below the original, which first launched on PC four years ago.

The remaster was meant to breathe new life into Guerrilla Games’ adventure, offering upgraded visuals and performance for an additional $10. However, since its announcement, many deemed the remaster unnecessary, considering the original title still holds up graphically, especially on PC, making the remaster less compelling.
