The Hotline Miami games are often praised for their neon 80s style, buckets of ultraviolence and great gameplay that is both simple and fast paced. Now you take a chance at creating the 80s murder-fest you always wanted to play as Hotline Miami 2’s level editor makes it out of beta and onto the Steam Workshop.
The editor contains a wealth of depth and variety, offering creators the chance to make anything from a single level all the way up to a fully fledged campaign. Yes, this means you can also create cutscenes to tie together your custom bloodbaths with and equally crazy plot. Player made levels can contain almost anything in the game itself, leaving creators open to scatter weapons and enemies across multiple floors, filling the rooms with furnishings and adornments as you please. Steam Workshop integration also means that you can share your creations online with other players, with a number of levels already waiting to be downloaded and played, should you be more of a player than a creator.
If this appeals to you and you don’t already own a copy of Hotline Miami 2, the game is currently 75% off on Steam for those wanting to get their hands on the game and it’s level creator. Right now the level editor is only available for those playing on Windows, with a version set to be launched for Mac and Linux in the future and unfortunately for those on consoles, the editor won’t be heading their way.
