Hotline Miami PC Review

Hotline Miami has all the hall marks of a classic game, it has the right balance of gameplay, simple mechanics and outlandish violence, a combination that has proven popular and successful in the game industry time and time again.
It’s hard to say this is just a game about smashing peoples heads in though, because while it sort of is, it demands more from you and you really have to think about real important issues such as “do I shoot the guy taking a pee or do I kick that door in so hard I knock the other guy out first”. I think what I’m trying to say is that it’s a puzzle game disguised in gratuitous violence.
It’s also got that retro charm that has all the hints of a game that came out in the early 90’s but with less of the draw backs. Sure this game has a low resolution, no changeable graphics options and well… it doesn’t really have anything aside from the gameplay, but that’s the point. The great thing about a lot of classic arcade games was you could fire up the game and just play, no fuss, no messing, just action! and that is exactly what you get here.
I can see why this game has won over so many other reviewers already, this is a game at its absolute essentials and yet it gives so much from so little. Level design is simple yet effective, weapons are basic but exciting to use, the controls are simple to use yet still require skill at times and in the end it all boils down to a high score.
I am more than happy to award this game with our Gamers Choice Award, if you like the sound of this madness and the trailer didn’t give you a massive headache, then you’re going to absolutely love the challenge of Hotline Miami.
