How Many Hardware Screens Can You Fit In a PC?

I had a bit of a thought recently after seeing several products which featured LCD screens, how many can you fit in and on a PC through the use of hardware which features an LCD display, and how many is too many? The idea of having a screen on your AIO to monitor temps is fairly reasonable but do you really need them on your fans, your RAM or your PSU? Well, I’ve been poking around to find out how many displays you can put in your system.

The Case

Starting off with the base of every build, the case which is a very easy choice for this kind of build and that is the HYTE Y70 TOUCH. This is the larger sibling of the very popular Y60 with a fishtank wraparound look that has proven popular in recent years for displaying your hardware. This particular model features a 14.1″ 1100 x 3840 capacitive touch screen on the corner panel which makes for our first system display.

Motherboard

For the motherboard, we’re going for the GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS XTREME X with its 5″ LCD Edge View display capable of displaying real-time hardware information such as CPU Temperature, VRM Temperature, CPU Voltage, CPU Clock, Memory Clock and Fan Pump RPM. Unfortunately, this one can’t be customised to whatever you please which is a shame. It’s also very expensive at over £1000 (Scan.co.uk) and very unnecessary for the average person, motherboard LCD displays seem to be reserved for the extreme high end which is understandable.

CPU Cooler

For CPU cooler there are a lot of choices available as many of the top-end AIOs are launching with LCD displays from the likes of CORSAIR, HYTE, Lian Li, and NZXT plus even Air coolers are getting in on it with DeepCool’s AK620 Digital though not quite on the same level. It’s hard to choose a specific one here since there are so many, but we’ll go with the HYTE THICC Q60 simply because it’s huge at 5″ with a 720×1280 resolution and it matches the case.

We can however take this further with a custom water-cooling loop from Corsair. With a custom loop, we can use the iCUE XC7 LCD CPU Water Block and the iCUE LINK XD5 RGB ELITE LCD Pump/Res combo which gives us one extra screen over the AIO route. Then you can take it further with one of these digital temperature sensors.

GPU

There are a fair few GPUs with little LCD displays on them nowadays such as the COLORFUL iGame Vulcan, and GIGABYTE AORUS MASTER the latter of which will go well with the AORUS Z790 XTREME motherboard, but the GALAX HOF RTX 4090 can be paired up with the HOF PANEL III, a 4.3″ full-colour TFT LCD panel which is fully customisable so I think that’s going to take the cake here, though admittedly it might look a bit odd in the vertical position of the HYTE Y70.

PSU

Now with the HYTE Y70 the PSU chamber is hidden from view so this is a bit pointless, but PSUs with screens exist and this is a PC with as many screens as possible so it’s getting done. This time we are again turning towards GIGABYTE with the AORUS P1200W 80+ Platinum which features a digital LCD monitor which, unlike the motherboard display, can display custom images and GIFs, this thing is beyond ridiculous.

Fans

Now this is where most of our screens are going to come from because Lian Li have made Uni Fans which feature tiny 1.6″ LCD screens, yes its ridiculous but it’s getting done. So how many of these can we fit in the HYTE Y70, 3x in the top, 1x in the rear, 3x on the side and 3x on the bottom? Now we have to take into account the AIO which has a size of 240mm. We can replace the two fans with the Lian Li LCDs for maximum display capacity but it’s unlikely we’ll fit another 120 next to the AIO. So, with 9 fans, we have nine screens here. Now if we go the CORSAIR water-cooling loop we can get the full 10 fans using a 360mm radiator.

RAM

So how about RAM there aren’t any kits which feature LCD displays themselves but Thermaltake have something called the Pacific R2 Ultra Memory LCD monitor kit which features a 3.9″ display that slots on top of your RAM with support for any modules with a max height of up to 48mm. This display can be customised through the TT RGB Plus software with support for images, gifs and hardware information.

The Final Count

So ignoring storage, CPU and RAM, that’s a PC with as many screens as I can find which makes for a total of 15 LCD displays within the PC case when using an AIO, but if you went the custom water-cooling route that can be increased to 18 with the added pump LCD, additional fan and temperature sensor.
