HP Announces New OMEN Gaming PCs

HP have today announced a new line in their OMEN gaming PC line. The new releases are set to provide some exceptionally high specification PCs with a specific emphasis on gaming and VR. The release also includes a set of OMEN specific peripherals to match the design.

Are OMEN Gaming PC’s any good?

OMEN Gaming PC’s are excellent in both design and performance. After years of HP being associated with Dells ‘home PC for the parents’, they are very keen to show that they can offer high-end performance systems. With a very specific target of VR and 4k gaming, OMEN is looking to be an excellent option for those who want a pre-built system.

With the design photographs, it’s practically impossible to deny that from an aesthetic standpoint, the systems are very attractive to look at. In addition to the gorgeous towers, they are also offering Laptop solutions for those who want to game on the go.

What system specifications are on offer?

You can have either an Intel or AMD processor with a Nvidia GPU. An AMD graphics option is also likely to be included once Vega hits the open market. Given the excellent performance, offered by Processors these days, it could be a great time to buy. You can see what we think about the awesome Ryzen 1800x by clicking here. A range of peripherals on offer, including 4k monitors, making these systems a head turner. As stand-alone prices, the extras are not even particularly expensive.

Are they good value?

At £1,699 you can buy the following system.

  • Windows 10 Home 64
  • Intel® Core™ i7-6700 processor
  • 16GB RAM with 256GB SSD and 3TB storage
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 (8 GB GDDR5X dedicated)
  • Customisable LED lighting; Air cooling; Landing pad for easy port access; Tool-less access

This is, in the wide and opinionated world of PC specifications, very good. At least an 8.5 out of 10. Obviously building it yourself with this specification would be cheaper. That’s presuming you are capable of doing so and don’t want to experience the design of that awesome tower.

This system is quite rightly offered as a VR ready system. Which based on the specification is a spot on assessment.

The OMEN range can be viewed by clicking here and although there are those of us who prefer our own custom systems, I have to admit, for the price and performance these OMEN systems are tempting.
