HP has announced the EliteBook x360 1040 G5, a 14-inch business convertible notebook that is also very compact (1.69cm thin) and lightweight (1.39kg). In fact, it has a 13-inch body despite its 14-inch screen. HP even claims that it is currently the world’s smallest 14-inch business convertible laptop.
The EliteBook x360 comes in a a unibody CNC aluminium chassis with an adonized finish. However, it is more than just looks as well since it passes rigorous MIL-STD testing standards.
The device comes equipped with a Gigabit-class 4G LTE. So users can stay connected and working almost anywhere. Additionally, it is available with the optional HP Outdoor Viewable display. This is 1920 x 1080 a Gorilla Glass 5 anti-glare screen with up to 700-nit display, ensuring that it remains viewable outside as it is indoors. Users can also opt for a 4K UHD 3820 x 2160 resolution display, although the brightness only goes up to 500-nits. Furthermore, the EliteBook x360 1040 G5 has a 17-hour battery life. So it lasts beyond normal business hours.
The EliteBook x360 1040 like all HP Elite devices of course come with business-class features as well. This includes HP Sure Start Gen 4, the world’s only self-healing BIOS, and HP Sure Recover with Embedded Reimaging. The last one enables customers to restore their PC to a working state within just a few minutes. The device also has a full HD webcam with an IR camera for facial security authentication.
In terms of internal hardware, it packs either a Core i5 4C/8T 8th generation Intel Core processor, 32 GB of 2667MHz DDR4, and from 512GB up to 2 TB of PCIe NVMe storage. As for other connectivity options, it has 2x Thunderbolt 3, and two USB Type-A ports, Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2×2).
The EliteBook x360 1040 G5 starts at just $1,499 USD and will be available by the end of October 2018.
