Last month META (aka Facebook) confirmed that it would be increasing the cost of its highly popular Oculus Quest 2 VR headsets. – Although you can learn more about it here, the short version is that the most inexpensive base option saw its MSRP increase from $299.99 to $399.99 which should now be reflected across all retailers. – Bad news for sure, but it seems that the decision to put up their prices may have prompted HTC to take some proactive steps about it.
Put simply, HTC has just announced a huge sale across their VR headset platform which now sees some models discounted by as much as 20%!
Now, just to get one elephant out of the room, even with the discounts, the VR headsets on offer from HTC are still notably more expensive than the (now more costly) Oculus Quest 2. On the plus side though, the sale has put the price of many of their headsets at least within a solid comparable range.
And at the risk of raising controversy among some of you, HTC’s products might be more expensive, but they are quite notably higher specced than the Oculus Quest 2. As such, although, even with this sale, they cost more, you will typically get a much better quality VR experience.
HTC has confirmed that the sale is open now and is set to run up until September 11th. – If you would, therefore, like to check out some of the deals on offer, you can visit the official HTC event website via the link here!
