Yesterday we brought you news that the wireless upgrade kit for the HTC Vive was going up for pre-order on the Chinese HTC site. If you were eager to get one, we’ve got good news and bad news, the good news is that the product was massively successful, and that should push HTC to produce more and get it into more markets. The bad news is that it sold out in just 18 minutes and you can’t order one right now.
I’m guessing someone at HTC thought “will this be popular enough?” and the simple answer is, yes, yes it will! Despite being $220 plus shipping, it seems there’s a huge demand for cutting the VR cord and don’t worry too much if you couldn’t get your pre-order placed in time, as there should be a second batch of pre-ordres next month. Just be warned, we expect batch two to see out just as fast!
