Huawei Now Most Profitable Android Brand Displacing Samsung

Huawei Technologies has now displaced Samsung to become the most profitable Android smartphone brand in the market. The Shenzen-based company has a reported operating profit share of 2.4% in Q3 2016 according to the latest report by Strategy Analytics. Samsung has been plagued by bad PR from explosion-prone devices, allowing Vivo and Oppo to displace it further down the list with both taking on 2.2% operating profit share for the period. It also helps that Huawei, Vivo and Oppo all showed roaring shipments across Asia and maintained healthy profitability.
Huwaei’s CEO Richard Yu is set to be the keynote speaker at CES 2017 where he plans to share his vision for a more global model of innovation and Huawei’s increasing role in this responsibility. He has been with the company for over two decades, taking on many roles on his rise as CEO. He has led the company to become the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world when he was the president of the company’s Wireless Network product line. Huawei’s success in 2016 is attributed to an extremely efficient supply chain, effective marketing and a solid product offering.
Of the total smartphone sales, however, Apple continues to dominate capturing a record 91% share of all smartphone profits worldwide, raking in $8.5 billion USD, showing that the iPhone brand is still extremely strong.
