We have seen some great Humble Bundle’s in the past, but the current one might set more than one record. It might very well the be largest one to date and it is also a little different than the usual bundles. Normally, the Humble Bundle is pay as much as you want and levelled in several tiers where you get more depending on how much you donate. This time, there is only one tier that will cost you $30 USD, but it is also a whopper of a bundle.
You get a total of 92 games, books, and audio books for this price and even if you already own some of them, it might very well be worth it. It contains some of the best indie games of recent times along with other goodies. Some of them are Steam DRM bound, but there are also Linux, Mac, and non-DRM versions.
Not only is this the possible biggest bundle yet, it might also be the fastest in regards to contributions. It hasn’t even been running for a day and it already gathered over 2.2 million in donation from followers and fans. Part of this is due to the great value for your money, but mostly it will be due to the cause that’s being collected for this time.
The freedom bundle will have all its donations go to the American Civil Liberties Union, the International Rescue Committee, and Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières rather than having it go back to the developers and Humble itself. You can still choose which of these charities you’re going to donate how much of your donation to. It isn’t limited to the $30 either and you can easily donate more if you wish to do so.
“We humbly remember that the United States is a nation of immigrants, and we proudly stand with developers, authors, and charities that champion liberty and justice for all.”
On top of all the user donations from bundle purchases, Humble Bundle themselves will match the first 300 thousand in donations on top. That goal was reached long ago, despite the short time it’s been running. with over 6 days remaining, the current 2.2 million donations (plus 300 thousand from Humble Bundle) might reach heights in donations never seen before on the site.
This isn’t just a great cause, it’s also a great bundle and I’m heading over to the site and pledging my donation now.
