At the moment, in terms of the main ‘World of Warcraft‘ game, you’ll probably not find any difficulty in finding a server that isn’t too overly crowded. In terms of WoW Classic, however, this is very much a different situation. With limited realms and even some of them having recently been merged, many players now feel that the servers have become just way too overpopulated to really enjoy the experience.
Well, following a report via Eurogamer, it seems that over a thousand players have decided to unite in what they are calling an experiment in creating a ‘Fresh’ WoW Classic experience.
At the time of writing, nearly 1,400 players (significantly comprised of 7 major Guilds) have all agreed to restart WoW Classic, but instead, they intend to join one of the relatively few low-population servers. There are, of course, many reasons for this but it chiefly boils down to three key points.
Firstly, on the higher-population servers, they feel that the leveling experience is too hindered by farming and gold generating bots artificially inflating the games auction house economy. Secondly, with World of Warcraft Classic set to receive the ‘Burning Crusade’ update, many are concerned about what will happen to the relatively few servers that currently don’t have a ridiculous number of players. Thirdly, they feel that on these low-population servers, players are often way too limited in having to make the grind by themselves. As such, by injecting a huge amount of new players, each of which looking to get their character up to level 60 again, they hope this might solve a number of those problems.
As a side note, you could also choose to view this as something of a ‘last hurrah’ before most of these players look to transition over to the Burning Crusade content.
Admittedly, it’s certainly not a solution that will ultimately solve any of the aforementioned problems, but it is one that could well suit the needs of these 1,400 players for at least the short-medium-term future. – As such, if you want to join in this experience, you can check out their official Discord server via the link here for more information!
