Husqvarna Releases Update To Make DOOM Playable On its Robot Lawn Mower

The goal of the original DOOM is not killing demons, it’s trying to get the game running on anything with a screen including a GoPro controller, digital pregnancy test, and even things without a screen such as E.Coli. Today’s new format for playing DOOM comes from a Husqvarna, a company who makes robot lawn mowers, and these lawnmowers have just received an official update that allows DOOM to be run on them.
Robot DoomMowers
Husqvarna recently revealed an update for their NERA robotic lawnmower models, that allows the user to play DOOM 1993 on the small screen that the lawnmower features. This release comes following the “amazing response” DOOM X Husqvarna robotic lawnmowers had at DreamHack Winter 2023. Owners of Husqvarna Automower NERA models will be able to sign up to receive this update which will let them play DOOM from April 9th to September 9th 2024.
The software update will be made available on the Husqvarna Automower Connect App, and owners can sign up for the software update here. Playing the game is done using the mowers control knob to turn left and right, the start button will make your run forward, and pressing the control knob will fire the gun.
It’s quite a good bit of marketing because I’m sure many people haven’t heard of Husqvarna mowers and now because you can run DOOM on them, albeit temporarily, you might just be considering one, especially if you’re too lazy to mow your own lawn. Unfortunately they don’t come cheap, the most basic model starts from $799 and they going for upwards of $5997.00 for more professional models.
