Hydra is a relatively new brand, but it’s one worth keeping in mind. Overclockers UK announced that they’re now stocking the brand and thereby bringing it to the island. Hydra is a rising brand in the world of computer technology, aimed at combining top-tier engineering and a wide range of customisation’s to offer you high quality, enthusiast grade products.
You’ll already have guessed what the highlights of this chassis are by its name. We’ve seen case-desks in the past from other manufacturers, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for another one. Especially such a beauty as the Hydra Desk.
There is an impressive amount of space for your components in the desk. You can install two complete systems with impressive custom loop abilities. Up to five 360mm radiators and a 480mm radiator can be mounted, or you could install 28 drives for an ultimate storage experience. And that’s just the start.
The Hydra Desk Case at a Glance
The Hydra Desk was created to be limited only by the imaginative powers of its owner. The modular desk case can be disassembled with the Allen key that comes with it and adjusted to your own preference. The 1,5 mm thick aluminium makes it robust as well as light. A motherboard tray comes pre-installed and holds Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX- or E-ATX format motherboards. A second tray for a second system is an optimal extra purchase. There’s space for two power supplies which is important. One might not be enough to run all the hardware it’s possible to install. Those who wish to run an air-cooled system can install CPU coolers with a height of up to 155mm below the glass lid.
The NR-01 from Hydra offers huge flexibility. What this means is that the case is not only usable as a “classic” closed-style case, but also as an open-, vertical or horizontal bench table.
Up to six 120 mm fans can be installed in a push-pull configuration. Alternatively, a powerful water-cooling setup with a large 360 mm radiator in the front can be used. A unique feature of this open Midi-Tower is the incorporation of the graphics card(s). With 8 PCI slots, motherboards up to E-ATX are supported. The graphics cards can either be installed directly to the motherboard or mounted by means of a vertical mounting bracket. Two graphics cards can thus be mounted at a 90-degree angle.
