HyperX Alloy Elite 2 Mechanical Keyboard Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The HyperX Alloy Elite 2 is available right now directly from HyperX. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see stock on Amazon, but I suspect it’ll roll out soon enough. It’s priced at just £139.99, which is a lot, but clearly cheaper than rival flagships from the likes of Corsair, Razer and more.

Overview

HyperX has grown its gaming brand at an exponential rate over the last few years. From what was once just a few rebranded budget peripherals, they’re not a serious competitor to the likes of Razer, Corsair, Logitech, SteelSeries, Cooler Master, etc. They’ve got some of the best keyboards, headsets, mice and more on the market today, and I’m happy to say that the HyperX Alloy Elite 2 is keeping that trend alive and kicking.

Build Quality

It’s easily one of the best made keyboards on the market right now. The construction is extremely robust and the keyboard feels exceptionally sturdy. It’s also the heaviest keyboard I’ve seen in quite a few years. Of course, that’s not really a bad thing as it stays firmly in place even when you’re RaGe TyPiNG!!!111.

The cable is very thick, and heavily braided too. I would have preffered it to be removable, but it’s hardly a deal breaker. In addition to that, their switches are rated for 80 million clicks vs Cherry’s own 50 million. Not that you’re likely to wear out either any time soon.

Performance

Absolutely faultless really, and their own switches can take all of the credit. They’re very similar to Cherry MX Red, as well as having some of the characteristics of MX Speed, which is a great place to be. They’re light, fast, surprisingly quiet and just feel great to type on. Plus, the heavy duty metal body on the keyboard just scrubs any vibration or unwanted feedback, so you get a really stable keyboard to type on.

Should I Buy One?

If you like your RGB with a bucket full of rainbows, or just want your favourite hot-pink glow, then you’ll get your kicks here. RGB lovers line up, as this is one stunner of a keyboard to look at. That being said, it’s not all show an no go. This keyboard is a serious performer, so eSports pros to at home gamers, you’ll all find something to love here.
