HyperX Cloud MIX Review – The Best Cloud Headset Ever?

Final Thoughts

How Much Does it Cost?

They’re not cheap, coming with an MSRP of £199.99. That puts them into the premium headset firing line, going again the likes of the SteelSeries Arctis Pro, Astro A40, RoG Delta and more. All of which are fantastic headsets in every respect. However, on Amazon they’re priced at just £179.99. Of course, that’s not a huge saving, but every little helps, right? Sure, they are expensive, but this is a quality product, with a great range of features, and in my opinion, worth every penny. They have some strong competition, but honestly, they can hold their own against their rivals all day long.

Overview

At around £200, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to a high-performance gaming headset. However, while some of the options are just a little too “gamer” for my liking. Such as that massive ASUS Centurion headset, or even the Arctis Pro. HyperX avoided the over the top gaming styles of headsets like the Astro A40, or the bulky Razer Taimat. They’ve also kept away from RGB lighting and kept a more refined design overall. The end result is a headset that you’ll be happy to wear at your desktop. Furthermore, you won’t stand out like an RGB beacon of stupid while wearing them on the train.

Great Features

Being able to get the absolute best audio you desire while gaming at home is one thing. Being able to kick back and use them over Bluetooth is just the icing on the cake here. You can play at home, at tournaments, where ever. But rather than pack away the headset for the journey, you just unplug it, pair your phone, and keep on enjoying it. With two audio cables included, it’ll work in wired mode on your phone, tablet, consoles, PC, and much more too. Basically, you buy one headset, and you can use it for pretty much everything.

Build Quality

Keep it simple, and there’s less to go wrong. The construction is robust and plays it very safe in regards to the design. The inner headband is reinforced, with plenty of padding throughout. There’s a simple non-turning ear cup mount, detachable cables, and more. It’s nothing fancy, but it just looks right, and it feels many times more durable than some of the more plastic heavy gaming headsets out there.

Should I Buy One?

For most gamers who just want a good headset, the older Cloud headsets are under £100 and all award winners. They’re honestly fantastic for far less money. However, if you’re sitting on £180, the Cloud Mix offers you a single headset that’s good for virtually any scenario, not just gaming. The high-res audio and the fantastic Bluetooth features really set it apart, and make that big investment seem worth it from the moment you put the Cloud Mix to use.
