HYTE Eclipse HG10 Wireless Gaming Headset Review

How Much Does it Cost?
Currently available in America and Canada for $99.99 (USD), although full European/UK availability doesn’t seem to have arrived quite yet for the Eclipse HG10, our contacts have suggested a price in those regions for €99.99/£89.99 respectively. – For more information, we advise you to check out the official product website link here which includes resources/information on potential regional retail sources.
Overview
There are many aspects of the HYTE Eclipse HG10 I find more than a little appealing. Mostly it’s the fact that it can, generally, be ready to go within seconds of plugging in the USB dongle. – Sometimes wireless technology like this can be exceptionally frustrating to use and not just in terms of connectivity, but also in terms of annoying software/hardware attempting to do things you don’t want it to!
The HYTE Eclipse HG10, however, has a nice and clean simplistic design that’s well replicated in its functionality.
Build Quality
The built quality is excellent and certainly seems to indicate that the HYTE Eclipse HG10 could easily last a lot of hours of gaming playtime. Of course, gaming headsets are not indestructible and through the merits of human use and contact, will get less appealing over time. With the majority of material on the HYTE Eclipse HG10 being either ‘pleather’ or plastic, however, a quick wipe down once a week will keep things nice and clean, and more so, will clearly expand if not its overall lifespan, then at least help maintain its slick visual appeal.
No, neither the audio quality nor the microphone is particularly suited for tasks beyond gaming. As noted earlier in the review, this is a headset that does feel specifically attuned to tearing across virtual battlefields than listening to soft rock at 3 am.
Should I Buy One?
The biggest issue for the foreseeable future is finding this available to purchase. Although HYTE has said that the Eclipse HG10 will be available shortly in both Europe and the UK, exactly when (for those regions that don’t have it yet) remains more than a little unclear. HYTE is big in America thanks to the brand recognition of ‘iBUYPOWER’. In regions where their influence isn’t so well known though… Not so much.
For $99.99 as well, I’m not going to lie, I think that this is probably going to be a little bit too expensive for the casual consumer. Gaming headsets are plentiful, and there are certainly models you can buy for significantly less money this. Then again, most of those look awful, feel worse to wear and offer audio quality akin to communicating to someone through 2 bean tins and a length of string.
For me, the HYTE Eclipse HG10 is probably going to be best suited to more mature gamers who don’t want to walk (or sit) around with a metaphorical Christmas tree on their head (not that I’m judging those of you who do!). – This is for people who would rather have something that looks sleek, clean, and professional while offering easy functionality while providing all of the performance needed in those big gaming moments!
