HYTE Y40 PC Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The HYTE Y40 is a premium PC case, but I think the price is pretty competitive. You can get it for £120-140 on Amazon right now, depending on the colour configuration of your choice. Considering it has a lot of premium features, the fantastic riser cable built-in, dual tempered glass, and some premium HYTE fans, it’s really not too bad, and about what you would pay for a similar case from rival brands. If anything it feels a bit of a bargain compared to the larger Y60, which is about £100 more expensive.

Overview

HYTE are a premium brand that have long since proven themselves in the enthusiast market, if anything, we’re about the last ones to the party in terms of reviewing this case, but better late than never. Their cases are always on reddit, with sweet builds from the PC gaming elite, and after getting my hands on one at last, it’s easy to see why.

The quality is second to none, and compared to similarly priced cube-type dual-chamber-ish cases, it’s either on par with the best of the best, such as Lian Li, Corsair, Thermaltake, etc, and better than the rest. It ticks all the boxes for a high-end PC gaming case these days, with dual tempered glass windows, dust filters on all intakes, room for larger radiators, a ventilated PSU shroud, good quality pre-installed fans, and good cable routing options.

However, it goes a bit ahead of the competition in many regards, such as the custom designed SSD bracket, the fancy design on the INTERIOR of the right side panel, the awesome dust filter designs on the bottom of the case, the custom PCIe card on the riser cable, all of which aren’t really noticeable in real world usage, but you just have to appreciate the attention to detail.

Some similar cases do have larger radiator support, but I guess this one isn’t exactly limited either, and since it is the smaller version of the Y60, sort of, it’s not like they don’t have options for those who want bigger radiators.

Should I Buy One?

For those wanting their PC to not only perform great, but also look great, it really is the best of both worlds. The price is competitive, but the value seems higher when you see the attention to detail on the design, build quality and functionality, it feels more custom than most cases in its stock configuration, and that really is impressive.
