The Intel i9 has long been a favourite for PC enthusiasts, delivering some of the best gaming and rendering performance, among other things, for consumer CPUs. Now it looks like the next generation is on the way, as the Intel’s i9-14900K has recently shown up in a CPU-Z. The new benchmark gives us some idea of what kind of performance we can expect from the Raptor Lake Refresh that is expected to launch later this year.
i9 14900K Benchmarks
The benchmarks for this next-gen i9 chip which is also an engineering sample, were shared on Twitter by wxnod (Via VideoCardz). The post shows screenshots within CPU-Z of the Intel Core i9-14900K (ES) with a boost clock of 6.0 GHz, 0.2 GHz higher than the 13900K and on par with the 13900KS. The benchmarks themselves show the chips achieving a single core benchmark of 978 and based upon CPU-Z benchmarks at Guru-3D, this is around 9% higher than the 13900K score of 891. For Multi-Core the chip scored 18117.5 which is around 8% higher than the 13900K at 16701.
Raptor Lake Refresh
Current information suggests that the Raptor Lake refresh is expected to be revealed at the upcoming innovation event this month which should follow with a release date following in October. With a nearly 10% increase in performance with the 14900K, it will be interesting to see what the rest of the lineup offers, especially the 14700K which has increased its core count to 8P+12E as opposed to the 8P+8E of the previous 13700K.
