ID-Cooling IS-60 EVO ARGB Low-Profile CPU Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?

At the time of writing, we were unfortunately not able to find any specific retailers (yet) selling the IS-60 EVO ARGB cooler. A factor that is likely due to the distribution issues found with the current COVID-19 pandemic – Based on news supplied directly from ID-Cooling, however, we have been told that the expected price should be something in the region of $46.99.

Now, admittedly, this isn’t overly inexpensive. Then again, low-profile cooling solutions are, generally speaking, few and far between and particularly so when you consider just how well this both performed and looked. When you take the design as a whole and what it offers, we find that this is very reasonably priced for what you get!

Overview

In terms of both looks and performance, the ID-Cooling does remarkably well in punching heavily above the weight it’s small stature would imply. Quite frankly, in terms of both acoustic and temperature control, the results shown in our testing clearly indicate that it’s more than capable of rubbing shoulders with some pretty impressive coolers that are much more notably larger.

Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of the installation method, but it does work and based on the results shown in our testing, exceptionally well. Also, I should note that although you can install this cooler in other directions, RAM compatibility could be an issue if you have particularly large heatsinks surrounding your CPU (which our test bench motherboard does).

Putting those aspects to one side, however, it’s still remarkably impressive just how much performance ID-Cooling has squeezed out of this surprisingly small package!

Should I Buy One?

It would be disingenuous of us if we said that there are no other low-profile cooling solutions that look as nice as this. It would also be the same if we said that there were no similarly-sized options capable of providing comparable temperature and acoustic results. It is, however, rare to find cooling solutions that manage to hit both of those remits so well, and that’s definitely what ID-Cooling has achieved here with the IS-60 EVO ARGB. – Put simply, it looks amazing and offers performance at least as good as the visuals!

If I needed a low-profile cooling solution, or indeed just something a bit fancy for my full-sized system, I would definitely give the IS-60 EVO ARGB more than a little consideration and, as far as praise goes, I can’t think of much better to say than that!

Pros

  • Highly-attractive design, particularly when compared to other low-profile designs
  • Strong, bright, and vivid ARGB lighting effects
  • Relatively easy to install
  • Amazing performance figures both in terms of temperature control and acoustics
  • Competitively priced

Cons

  • RAM compatibility could be an issue if you have a crowded CPU area in your motherboard
  • No manual ARGB connector – A sync compatible motherboard (or adaptor – again, not supplied) is required to get the best out of this!

Neutral

  • None
