ID-Cooling SE-914-XT Basic CPU Cooler Review

Installation

It’s a point we regularly raise in our cooler reviews, but we always consider a good quality manual to be a very important but understated component. If you don’t know what you’ve got to do to fit this, after all, you’re not going to have a good time!

Fortunately, while the manual is lacking somewhat in terms of material quality, the information provided within is excellent. Yes, the written instructions are a little slim, but being concise, clear, and with excellent diagrams to back it up, you shouldn’t have any problems understanding exactly what goes where!

Mounting

I must admit that I’m always mildly worried when installing CPU coolers that the manufacturer has come up with a new installation method that is unnecessarily complicated. Fortunately though, in this instance, ID-Cooling has (rather wisely in my view) not attempted to re-invent the wheel.

The installation method is, put simply, one that’s largely adopted as the industry standard and particularly so for air coolers. As such, through a few little checks of the manual, whether you are new or experienced to to installing CPU coolers, you shouldn’t have any problems here!

Overall Thoughts

From out of the box and onto our test bench, the ID-Cooling SE-914-XT Basic took us roughly 5-minutes to install which is, in case you didn’t know, pretty quick. Yes, we have something of an advantage of having a very friendly test bench and more than a little experience in this regard, but in terms of difficulty, this is about as easy as it gets!

When installed, we should also note that despite not having any RGB lighting effects, the ID-Cooling SE-914-XT Basic does look more than a little slick. As such, regardless of what else you put in your PC build, this shouldn’t look even mildly out of place!

Look, however, are only one part of this review. It is, of course, important to know how this performs when we switch the system on!
