ID-Cooling SE-914-XT Basic CPU Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?
Although we do not have any confirmed prices with third-party retailers at the time of writing, ID-Cooling has confirmed that the ID-Cooling SE-914-XT Basic will retail for something in the region of £20-£25 and, as such, in comparative terms, this is definitely touting itself as a strong contender within the bargain hunting market.
Put simply, you’ll struggle to find a CPU cooler less expensive than this and, if you did, it would more likely be better placed within a bin than mounted onto a processor.
Overview
The ID-Cooling SE-914-XT Basic is something of an odd-duck in modern CPU coolers as, unlike many other models that are primarily pumping their efforts into strapping on as much ARGB lighting as possible, this design is going for a far more simpler approach. – Does it work though? Well, as you can see throughout this review, despite the ‘lack’ of lighting effects, the ID-Cooling SE-914-XT Basic still pulls off a very sleek and stylish aesthetic and, best of all, provides you with more than acceptable levels of temperature control.
Throw that amazingly quiet acoustic performance into the mix and what you have is a very solid cooling solution with a very friendly, and dare I say highly-attractive, price tag!
Should I Buy One?
I don’t think it would be unfair to say that ID-Cooling is presenting the SE-914-XT Basic as an inexpensive upgrade on stock cooling solutions and, under those remits, it absolutely hits the ball out of the park. Sure, there are better looking coolers out there with all the ARGB bells and whistles to go with it. When you compare the performance and pricing, however, if you’re looking for a no-nonsense design that gets the job done, the ID-Cooling SE-914-XT Basic is a fantastic option!
