Was it clever marketing or a hilarious error? This is what you need to ask after IMAX slip up and post a hilarious trailer for ‘The Mummy’ which is set for release on the 9th June 2017 (UK).
The trailer was quickly taken down by IMAX, but this is the internet, and you can’t just unsee things, especially mishaps like this one. The video of course has been saved, downloaded and reuploaded to the internet, countless times. Although most of the links on YouTube are now dead due to copyright claims, it is still possible to find a working link.
Most of the YouTube links are being taken down pretty fast, however this one was working at the time of posting.
This trailer is missing the very start, but that doesn’t matter, it just means you get to the good bit quicker! It seems as though the sound guy took some time off, and for some reason, they really don’t want it out there.
You would have thought they would have wanted all the media attention they could get, and this has certainly got people looking. I actually didn’t even know they were releasing a new ‘The Mummy’ movie, so they gained a potential viewer here.
Then again, I haven’t honestly enjoyed anything Tom Cruise has been in since Top Gun, don’t judge me, it’s a great movie.
The plot of the movie is as follows;
‘An ancient princess is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.’
If you want to know more about the movie and the cast, here is the imdb page. It makes you wonder what other movie trailers would sound like if just the vocal audio was present.
Now you’ve more than likely been able to see the trailer, what other trailers would you like to see with this ‘slip-up’?
What I would like to see uploaded, is some homemade versions, if anyone is bored enough to take the task on, recreate the trailer with your own noises and voices, don’t forget to share it!
