Exterior
The Dragon slayer has a very unique design and follows a dark grey colour scheme. The whole design ploy behind the Dragon slayer is that it’s meant to use the styling from a knight’s armour.
This includes the front mesh design which is there to represent the chain-mail that a knight would wear. Behind the mesh are dust filters which can be unscrewed and cleaned but the feel of taking the panels out does feel quite tight and may take some time to do.
The front clearly displays 3 x 5.25 drive bays as well 1 x 3.5 drive bay but this isn’t as clear cut as that, as there are several combinations as to what you can use by compensating internal drives for external and vice versa. Sadly this is a price to pay on a case of this size and form factor.
The combinations are:
Have fun trying to make sense of that one.
Also on the front is a set of connections which include:
A big power button is also present with two LED’s below (one either side) and also just beneath the power button you will find a very fiddly reset button that can only be pressed with the aid of a screwdriver or similar due to how far back the button is recessed.
Taking centre stage on the front of the case is the In Win logo which sits embossed on the raised plastic plate.
The right side of the case is pretty standard but does feature some ventilation ports down the bottom left in the shape of an arrow which we can only assume are for style reasons other than anything else.
The left side is interesting to say the least as with cases you will find some have solid sides and some have windowed versions whereas this has a bit of both with a slightly raise meshed panel. This panel includes 16 rubber grommets which will assist in the installation of up to four x 120mm fans for extreme cooling and low vibration.
The rear of the case displays three water-cooling ports to pass tubes through (though only two are for water-cooling), a 90mm fan and 5 expansion slots for your PCI-E/PCI and AGP cards. The power supply will be situated at the bottom and supports ATX 12V and PSII standards.
The top of the case features ventilation ports that house the pre-supplied 140mm fan which can be swapped out for a slightly smaller 120mm fan if need be.
The top of the case also features the In Win logo embossed just below the fan.
On the bottom are four rubber feet with a stylish metal casing which gives the feet a bit of style and aids with anti-vibration properties too.
You will also find there are ventilation holes on the bottom which is where the fan from the power supply will dissipate heat.
