Inateck FD1006C USB 3.0 Lay-Flat Docking Station Review

Final Thoughts

Pricing

The Inateck FD1006C USB 3.0 Hard Drive Docking Station with dustcover is available through Amazon and will set you back £25.99 in the UK, $27.99 in the US and €26.59 in Germany. A very reasonable price for a great docking station with included power adapter.

Overview

The Inateck FD10006C USB 3.0 docking station is a somewhat traditional approach, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The lay-flat docking station has a slide-on cover at the top to protect the inserted drive from dust and other unwanted dirt.

We saw some great speeds from the FD1006C, in fact some of the best USB 3.0 results we’ve had from external enclosures. The FD1006C even beat the other Inateck enclosures that we’ve previously tested.

The full-sized USB connector and the extra power adapter ensure both stability and compatibility for every drive. It doesn’t matter if you want to use a blazing fast SSD or a mechanical drive with maxed out capacities such as our 6TB WD RED drives. The FD1006C takes it all and pays you back with fast transfer speeds and access times.

Pros:

  • USB 3.0 with UASP support for up to 440MB/s
  • Equally compatible with 6TB HDDs and fast SSDs
  • Tool-free design
  • Solid build quality, but plastic

Neutral:

  • Would have loved to have an eSATA connection on it

“The Inateck FD1006C lay-flat USB 3.0 docking station offers great transfers speeds, easy usage and compatibility with virtually any drive. A worthy drive dock.”
