Two incredible bits of news from the team at Roberts Space Industries this week, not only has the company just hit a staggering $56 million in funding, but they’ve also revealed the first bit of gameplay footage from the open universe section of their upcoming title, Star Citizen.
Backers of the game can now get their hands on the Arena Commander section of the game, which is nice for a bit of PvP practice, but the real good stuff is going to be the games sprawling online universe, with dozens of star systems, thousands of landing locations, space battles, trading and a million other incredible things for you to explore.
Since none of the single / online playing aspects have been shown before, at least not in such detail, this video simply blew my mind. Taking your ship and landing on the planet, being able explore and more looks like all kinds of fun and I can’t wait to see what other land sites and planets have to offer. The game obviously still has a lot of work to be done, but it’s already shaping up to be something very special.
