Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to make its mark on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms. Originally slated as an Xbox and PC exclusive, Bethesda and Microsoft recently confirmed that the game will also launch on PS5 in Spring 2025. This announcement, made at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, follows months of speculation and insider reports suggesting that the game would not remain an Xbox exclusive for long.
The game, developed by MachineGames, will first launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC on December 9, 2024. The exclusivity window is short, with the PS5 version arriving just a few months later. This news aligns with Microsoft’s recent strategy of breaking exclusivity on several first-party titles, a move likely aimed at maximizing sales and post-release revenue.
Microsoft’s decision to bring Indiana Jones to PS5 reflects broader changes within the company. Despite earlier indications that future Bethesda titles might remain exclusive to Xbox, Microsoft’s recent actions suggest a shift in strategy. During the FTC vs. Microsoft hearing in July 2023, it was revealed that discussions about exclusivity took place as far back as 2021, but the landscape has since evolved. This shift is part of Xbox’s goal to become a market leader by 2030, even if it means sharing titles with rival platforms.
