Infinity Ward Confirms Modern Warfare 2 Party Crashing Issue

Officially released in the very early hours of yesterday morning, so far the overall reception for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 seems to be largely positive. I’d offer you my own opinion but I’ve yet to really take a solid swing at the multiplayer yet (outside of the beta last month). – It seems, however, that the online aspects of Modern Warfare 2 currently have a pretty notable problem at the moment.

Namely, users have started to complain that when attempting to join a match as a ‘party’ (which is clearly a pretty standard thing in any COD title), rather than loading the match, the game instead decides to just crash instead!

If you are, therefore, experiencing this problem, there is at least some good news. Following a Twitter post from developer ‘Infinity Ward‘, they have, at the very least, confirmed that the issue does exist and that they’re working hard to try and get it fixed as soon as possible.

Modern Warfare 2 – Party Crashing Bug!

At the time of writing, no exact reason for the party crash bug has been confirmed. Based on the growing number of user reports, however, it seems pretty clear that this is not an isolated issue, and more so, it doesn’t even appear to be limited to one particular platform or anything to do with cross-play. The bug seems to exist within the actual party system itself.

So, yeah, not a particularly great way to kick off what typically represents one of the biggest multiplayer gaming titles of the year.

Fix On the Way

With Infinity Ward at least confirming the bug, the good news is that all going well, a hotfix for Modern Warfare 2 should be on the way within the next 24 hours to try and solve the problem. It may even already be out by the time you read this. – If you are still experiencing the problem, however, at least take some solace in the fact that you are definitely not alone in this problem, and, fingers crossed, a solution will be found in the very near future!
