Inno3D GeForce GTX 1080 iChill X3 Graphics Card Review

Noise, Power Consumption and Temperatures

Noise

In terms of noise output, the graphics card is completely silent during idle usage scenarios thanks to the 0dB fan mode. Subsequently, the acoustic performance varies depending the noise emitted from other system components. Under full load, the GPU is extremely quiet for a triple-card cooling solution and isn’t too far behind other products sporting a high-quality single fan.

Power Consumption

The GTX 1080 is incredibly efficient and that’s to be expected given the new manufacturing process. As a result, the GPU consumes a mere 266.5 watts while running the Heaven benchmark. This is unbelievable given the kind of performance on offer.

Temperatures

Despite utilising a 0dB idle fan mode, the graphics card doesn’t heat up in a noticeable way when browsing the web or performing other basic tasks. When playing games or running synthetic benchmarks, the core reached a maximum figure of 75C and achieved a 73C average. This is a vast improvement on the founder’s edition which I’ve recently tested in an upcoming system review.
