Instagram’s new Threads app has already had over 30 million users sign up in less than 24 hours between Wednesday Night and Thursday morning.
Threads is a new App from Meta based on Instagram and is designed to be a Twitter competitor with a more text-based approach to Instagram. Yesterday, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, revealed that in less than 24 hours between its launch on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the new platform has had over 30 Million users sign up which has also placed it at the top of the Google Play Store and the App Store. Additionally, the Verge shared some internal data they had seen which stated that there have already been more than 95 million posts and 190 million likes shared which is pretty impressive. The Verge also pointed out several issues with the platform including the lack of DMs, a reversed chronological following feed and the fact that you can’t delete your account without deleting your Instagram account. Of course these issues are expected for a new platform and will likely be ironed out through the coming months.
I personally hate social media which I’ve made no secret in some of my articles surrounding Twitter or Facebook, so I’ve no interest in another Twitter based on the vanity of Instagram. Of course, my views are my own and not that of eTeknix as a whole so I’d like to point you towards our Threads page here as well as the Instagram blog post where you can find out more about this platform.
