Today is a good day in the office, Shogun Bros are one of the newest players in the peripherals market and they’re back again with their second feature review here at eTeknix. When I reviewed their Ballista MK1 gaming mouse it proved that the company knows how to make a great peripheral without the need for a crazy budget, it was packed full of features, had great build quality, really nice aesthetics and competitive performance. Now they’re launching their first headset and if it is half as good as their gaming mouse, then we should be in for a real treat today.
The Ensense is the latest headset on the market to feature vibration drivers to give the sound some extra thump. Quite honestly for me the lack of a rotation point is not a con, but a pro. That is where my last few headsets have broken, despite me always taking care of them. I just have a big head that stresses that point too much.
I’m guessing the manufacturers don’t know the meaning of ‘subtle’ or ‘restrained’. Even a blind person could see these things in the dark.
Just about every new product that gets flung out the door nowadays has the words has the word ‘pro gamer’ inscribed somewhere on it, in fact there are probably more ‘pro gamer’ items on the market than there are actual pro gamers but I digress. If you’re new to the… “ahem”… game like Shogun Bros is then pussy footing around is just not going to cut it even if you do have an excellent product..
Haha I certainly get what you mean, but personally I think they could have pink flamingos painted on them and it wouldn’t matter to me. I’ll always take comfort and sound quality every time. I do like the design, but maybe dialling it down a few hundred percent wouldn’t have been a bad idea.
You said they sounded great and I have no reason not believe you, I was just knocking their brash approach which is probably a good way of drawing attention. That said, once they’re settled comfortably over your ears doing what they’re supposed to do with aplomb who cares what the hell they look like?… Certainly not me.
Thinking about it, the lack of “nonsense” is perhaps one of the things that drew me to my current headset of choice, the Mionix Nash 20, sleek, understated and bitching sound 😀
Yup you really wrote a glowing review about them. Mionix make some great stuff and I have had the opportunity to take some of their mice for a burn (but sadly no audio gear) and I came away really impressed, unfortunately their products are pretty scarce in my neck of the woods. 🙁
I bought this headset 2 days ago and i have to say ur review is way off as the headset as a terrible mic that picks up every single bit of playback coming through the headphones and relays it back to everyone else. Ive messed with all settings and they isnt anything at all to fix it so do yaself a favor and dont bother with this product as its not worth it.
