Intel already planning to launch Haswell processors and Lynx Point chipset

The time for Ivy Bridge to show itself is nearing ever closer with 11 models to be presented by the end of April. The next-generation 22nm based processors line up will include Core i7-3770K, Core i7-3770, Core i7-3770S, Core i7-3770T and Core i5-3550 which are expected be amongst the first to be presented.

According to sources from upstream component players who spoke to the DigiTimes, several models including Core i5-3470, Core i5-3470S, Core i5-3475S, Core i5-3570 and Core i5-3570S will be released in early June.

Later around August, Intel is expected to release Ivy Bridge-based entry-level Core i3 and Pentium series processors while the 7 series chipset will have already made its appearance in April.

So that’s a few names cited for the upcoming Ivy Bridge. Even before the “current” next-gen processors are released, Intel is already planning its next release with the “next” next-gen processors. Expected for launch around March 2013 is an initial batch of Haswell-based processors and Lynx Point chipset. With the new platform will also come a new socket with LGA1150 (set to confuse even more consumers).

With the new platform will come enhanced performance and dropping costs expected to help maintain desktop product shipments. Additionally, after being released for about two quarters, these new chips will pair with Windows 8, which should have already reached a pretty stable stage in terms of operating performance.
