Intel Arc A770 Drops Hugely Below MSRP – But It’s Still Too Expensive!

It’s been a little over three months now since Intel announced the launch of its Arc A7 series of graphics cards, and, to be honest, I sometimes need reminding that they actually exist given that they hit the market with more of a whimper than a bang. – Yes, we have our long overdue third player in the GPU scene, but their current offerings are certainly not striking a note with the overall PC gaming community.
Put simply, although lacking any specific retail figures (yet), the Intel Arc series of graphics cards are not overly appealing, and by proxy, are almost certainly not doing too well in terms of sales. – The problem though is that despite this 99% probability, Intel is still being incredibly resistant to lowering the official price making them even less tempting as more Nvidia and AMD models hit the market.
Following a report via Videocardz, however, it seems that one hardware retailer in Germany might’ve become the first to blink as following a promotional offer, the Arc A770 is (sort of) available to purchase for just €355. And just to put that into context, this has it at around €70 below the official MSRP.
Intel Arc A770 Falls Hugely Below MSRP With Retailer!
Now, before you get too excited, we should note that this is just one retailer within Germany. And more so, while it does come with free shipping the offer is only available to consumers within that region. Still, with this deal offering 10% off its original price of €399, getting an A770 for circa €350 certainly makes it a little more tempting. Well, just barely!
Why is the Arc series struggling so much though? Well, it’s predominantly due to price. As noted above, while clearly representing a bit of a huge ‘meh’ with PC gamers, Intel is still insisting on holding their notably high MSRPs making them, comparatively speaking, pretty unattractive (a factor not bolstered either by their lacklustre gaming performance).
Worse though, European MSRPs are circa 20% higher than those seen in America which makes the region, from a consumer standpoint, crap! – Particularly since both the Pound and Euro have been notably increasing in value against the dollar for the last 6 months.
Put simply, the Intel Arc A770 should cost around €300 right now, but it doesn’t. – Does €350 make it more tempting though? Ehh, probably not!
